Taut-Line Hitch
This knot is used on a rope that is secured to a tree or tent stake. The hitch will slide freely, yet it will jam under load. This makes it excellent for anchoring guy lines as used on a tent to the tent stakes or for anchoring guy lines for a canopy or tarp.
