Order of the Arrow
The Order of the Arrow is the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America. Troop-829 current members of the SHENSHAWPOTOO Lodge Order of the Arrow are Jim W., , Steve W., Chris S., Kyle R., Bo S., Tyler H., Zach A. Chad H. and Trevor P.
Brotherhood Membership in the Order of the Arrow is the final step of the induction process which begins with the unit election, continues through the Ordeal and ends when brothers make the commitment to Brotherhood membership. Elections for the Order of the Arrow are held in May. Those scouts meeting the eligibility requirements must be elected by a majority of the troop. Tap Out for those elected is conducted on Fridays at summer camp and the Ordeal Ceremony for those tapped out is held in August.
From the beginning of the Order in 1915, all members have been equal.
Brotherhood carries no additional "rank" in the Order. Brotherhood members have
proven they understand the principles of the Order and have committed themselves
to a life of cheerful service. Brotherhood membership is sought by Arrowmen
seeking to reaffirm their belief in the high purpose of the Order of the Arrow.
The Brotherhood ceremony is a way to further inspire members of the Order of the
Arrow to live the ideals and principles they were exposed to in the Ordeal
Ceremony. Every member is inducted into the Order of the Arrow not so much for
what you have done, but for what your are expected to do.
